FIRST DAY AT BYTES

WHAT TO EXPECT

You will receive a REMINDER ABOUT YOUR BYTES CLASS

  1. Make sure you pack your BYTES BAG with all the things you need for your class

  2. These things are listed in your handbook but could include- Your BYTES CLOTHES ( what you are going to wear) Your jazz shoes, ( Older Students often pack their character shoes). water bottle, note book and pencil/highligher/ folder for music Even a sweater for if the AIRCON gets too cold hahah.

  3. Arrive at the hall via the large verandah. ( NOT THE CHURCH ST ENTRANCE BUT VIA THE GRASS NEAR CRAFT COTTAGE) This is where you wait for class and it is also where the toilets are situated. The younger kids often play on this grass until its time to go in.

  4. Katherine and Robyn will be at BYTES the first week to say Hi and help you with any BYTES T Shirts or Shoes you might wish to purchase. They will be in the FOYER of the Main Hall and this is accessible from the verandah. They will also be there to hand out the uniforms for SPECIALIST CLASSES. These don’t include bottoms so if you aren’t going to purchase the shorts, bring something else please. The SQUARE will be SET UP in the foyer for this purpose or you are able to preorder via our class wear page. Give yourself some time to do this as you don’t want to miss out on your class time.

  5. Allow yourself some time before class to get changed for class. There are toilets off from the verandah of the hall. Do not leave your bags on the verandah or in this foyer but take them into your class with you.

  6. Some classes are conducted in St Marks Church Hall, but if this is your class, don’t worry, your teacher meets you on the verandah of the main hall and will walk you down. ( It is just across the lawn next to the hall and our regular kids know it well.)

  7. On the first session of any class we usually play a few ice breaker activities to get everyone relaxed and mixing with new people and classes always start with warm ups- particularly any musical theatre class! IPA classes always start with JOKE OF THE WEEK so come prepared.

  8. Have a look on our website at the BYTES Teachers. This year we have organised our timetable so that most of our teachers work with everyone. This means you get the expertise of not one but many excellent performers practitioners, directors, choreographers and teachers. Out team are: Miss Robyn, Miss Katherine, Mr Riley, Mr Scott, Miss Natalie, Miss Abby, Miss Melissa, Miss TJ and Miss Eva.

  9. If you need to send a message please do so to 0414758701. This is the number to text if your child cannot attend.

  10. DO NOT SEND SICKNESS APOLOGIES TO THE FACEBOOK GROUP PAGE PLEASE. It can drive the senior kids crazy with notifications hahah.

  11. DO NOT CANCEL YOUR CHILD’S APPOINTMENT IF THEY ARE SICK. This cancels the whole term. YIKES!

  12. After Class the students will exit via the verandah of the hall and this is where the younger students are to wait until they are collected NOT IN THE CARPARK! Please be punctual when collecting your child and read this section in your handbook about our policy. The last classes of the evening tend to be senior students which means younger ones can wait inside the hall until your arrival, but please be aware our staff are teaching, so it is best if they are collected after their session.

  13. Talk to your child after their first BYTES Session to make sure they are in their appropriate class. Nothing worse than doing a musical class if they want to be in acting and vice versa. If we can, we can change their sessions after the first week .

  14. REMEMBER you have 1 week to let us know if they reconsider. At this point we are able to refund your term. Do bear in mind, particularly with kids who are shy, that sometimes it might take a few sessions for them to gain the confidence they need. It does happen but over time.

  15. If your child comes home with music or scripts, please put them in a folder and in to their BYTES Bag for the following week….. When it will start again x
