About BYTES

For 24 years on the Sunshine Coast, Buderim Youth Theatre of Excellence has provided quality training in voice, movement, musical theatre and acting.

Exciting and enriching performance opportunities, have enabled thousands of young people to experience the performing arts in their own fully accessible youth theatre.

Our belief in offering young people professional tuition, guidance and performance opportunities, involving classic texts, works of literature and quality musical projects, promotes the development of our students as creative, intelligent and skilled performers who are well prepared to take their place on the world's stage.

More importantly, BYTES is seen as a haven for young people to be with like minded young creatives, who share their passion for the performing arts in a safe and friendly environment that becomes like a second home on top of the hill. The friendships made at BYTES are lifelong, with many of our foundation members still remaining in contact after 24 years.

Present students have been successful in gaining lead roles with professional shows, such as the Australian production of Matilda, Sunshine Coast and Brisbane professional productions and regularly participate in Community Theatre and events.

Many of our alumni currently work professionally performing around the world and attest to the importance BYTES paid in their lives and creative journey.

BYTES students have gone on to graduate from such institutions as NIDA, VCA, QUT, Griffith University Conservatorium, WAAPA and Australian Institute of Music. Whether the skills and confidence learned at BYTES are applied professionally or at a personal level, the influence of BYTES cannot be measured. Young people are inspired to work together and to give of their very best, to take direction and develop their confidence and interpersonal skills, and these attributes stay with them throughout their lives.

Over the years, BYTES has built up a considerable following of patrons who come along to our shows because of the high standard of theatre.
